We were thrilled to present two-time Grammy nominee -- and a
long-time personal favorite of Norm’s -- Bill Morrissey at our house
concert venue. His songs tell stories, either based on his
observations, or more directly tied to his own experiences. He
has a stunning ability to capture the telling detail in his songs, and
he reveals more about each of his memorable characters in three
economical minutes than many other songwriters can in an entire album.
By turns humorous, ironic, clever, and lyrical, Morrissey’s
stories are enhanced by their spare and intimate arrangements and are
delivered in a voice that has been variously described as gravelly,
craggy, weathered, husky, and tender.

More likely to be found on the club and concert hall circuit,
Morrissey only rarely does a house concert, so this will be a unique
opportunity to catch him in an "up close" setting.
Further his CDs sound great and are always "on
rotation".
Bill is a very enjoyable performer, where his rare sense of
humor really shines, and serves to complement his frequently poignant
songs.
Doors, and the ice box, will open at 6:00 p.m., with the music
to begin about 7:00. Incidently, this show will feature one 90
minute set, so don't be late. We will feature light food before
the set, as usual, and will serve desert and coffee after the
performance.

Something I Saw, or Thought I
Saw is Bill's just released CD. This is his
first album of new songs in five years. It has gotten strong
reviews, and we like it. |

Bill Morrissey has produced a number of fine CDs and (showing his
age) LPs. Our personal favorites include these three, all of which
capture the truth of the human condition, and display his astonishing
ability to convey a full story in deftly painted words.
These are also finely crafting recordings, with excellent
instrumentation highlighting each song. Bill draws on many
talented musicians to contribute - our favorite is Johnny Cunningham on
violin.

Bill has recently branched successfully into the, now obvious,
arena of fiction writing. His first novel, Edson,
was critically acclaimed, and his second Imaginary
Runner should hopefully be out soon. The same eye for
detail and insight into people serves Bill well in this new endeavor.
