Chuck grew up in the Philadelphia area. As a teenager
he worked at a legendary folk club, The Main Point, where he was
introduced to many great songwriters and performers. His
influences include Bob Dylan, Steve Forbert, Jackson Browne,
David Massengill, and -- further toward the literary side -- Mark
Twain. In
1981, Chuck took his guitar and hitchhiked to California. He’s
been a migrant fruit picker, driven an ice cream truck, and toiled on an Israeli
kibbutz. He's worked for a book distributor, was
a bank courier (until he lost a check for ten million), and spent
two years busking in Europe. Although he now makes his
home deep in singer-songwriter country, near Asheville, North
Carolina, Chuck draws on his many adventures in his songs.
Whether writing about extraordinary lives or about ordinary ones,
Chuck infuses his stories with humanity and humor, and they find
increasingly enthusiastic audiences nationwide and overseas. Other
than in his bizarre attachment to the Philadelphia Flyers, Chuck is
one
of the best guys you're likely to meet.
